"Embroidered Squares" Goose Egg Pysanka
The ancient tradition of Ukrainian pysanky carries on in this glorious goose egg pysanka, “Embroidered Squares.” Made with the wax-resist (batik) technique that dates back over a thousand years, this pysanka is written on a natural, emptied goose egg shell with a heated metal tool called a kistka. A fractal pattern of stars and crosses leads the eye ever deeper in tones of white, yellow, green, and blue. The shell has been triple-hand-rubbed with polyurethane for a permanent, sun- and water-proof museum-quality finish. Each pysanka is shipped with a small acrylic stand, and a golden finial with black ribbon allows for easy hanging as an ornament.
Goose shells measure on average 3.5-4” tall, and 2.5-3” diameter.
Our pysanky come individually double-boxed for complete safety during shipping. A clear acrylic stand is included.
